There has recently been an increased interest in joining the Trees4Trees program for the purpose of reducing or 'offsetting' CO2 emissions. One such company is ViaVia tours who had the novel idea of offsetting the carbon they release in their business of providing tours and introducing Indonesian culture to domestic and foreign tourists through planting trees.

Trees4Trees™ has been planting trees in Central Java communities since 2007. One of the big benefits of community forestry is that in addition to added tree cover it provides an income for those communities when the trees are harvested. Some of the fast growing species planted by Trees4Trees are already coming to harvest-able maturity.

Trees4Trees™ distributed 184,972 tree seedlings in January 2013. The species consist of Sengon, Teak, Suren and Mahogany. The seedling were distributed to eight districts in Central Java; Kebumen, Purbalingga, Cilacap, Magelang, Klaten, Tegal and Pati.
