Imagine how life would be without trees?
Trees are our planet’s lifeblood, supplying oxygen to breathe, water to drink, food to eat, shelter for wildlife, and medicine to heal. These are necessary for the survival of living things. Trees also help stabilize the global climate, making them essential to the health of our planet.
Every tree planted breathes a better life on Earth and here's why the existence of trees is vital!

Improving Air Quality
Trees help clean the air by absorbing carbon dioxide from the atsmosphere and releasing oxygen for us to breathe. They also play an important role in purifying the air from harmful gases and particles, particularly in urban and industrial areas where severe air pollution exacerbates climate change. In our operation, we plant trees in several urban and industrial areas within urban forestry systems to help improve air quality, reduce air pollution, thus creating the urban environment healthier.

Conserving Water
Water essential for all life, and trees sustain water cycles and supplies. They intercept rainwater with their leaves, prevent runoff, and stabilize stream banks with their roots. Healthy forest cover is therefore vital for preserving water resources, improving water quantity, quality, and natural filtration. In drought-prone areas like Kebumen, Boyolali, Bandung, and Gunungkidul Yogyakarta, we strategically plant water-conserving species to help communities secure long-term access to clean water.

Enhancing Soil Quality
Trees improve soil fertility through their root systems, which help retain water and maintain soil moisture. Fallen leaves act as natural fertilizers, enriching the soil, while some tree species add valuable nutrients. Trees also bind the soil with their roots, preventing erosion. Improving soil quality is one of our reforestation goals, helping to prevent soil related disasters like landslides and flooding, keep soil in place and reduce sediment run off into waterways, also boost tree growth, which optimizes yields.

Combat Climate Change
Dense forests combats climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and storing it in their trunks, roots, and branches. Trees also improve the functionality of the soil they grow in, allowing it to store more carbon for longer periods. Some of our tree planting efforts specifically focus on climate change mitigation through carbon sequestration, collaborating with local communities to ensure sustainable, long-term tree growth.

Support Biodiversity
Trees support biodiversity by providing habitat for countless flora and fauna species. They provide food, shelter, breeding, and nesting sites, helping maintain ecosystem balance. Indonesia, where we focus on reforestation efforts is one of the 17 mega-biodiversity countries in the world, home for two of the world’s 25 biodiversity hotspot: Wallacea and Sundaland. It also ranks as one of the top world’s centers for agrobiodiversity. Alongside economically and environmentally valuable trees, our reforestation efforts also plant native species like Saninten, Puspa, Rasamala, Damar, and more to ensure the sustainability of local biodiversity.

Promote Health
Trees improve water quality and quantity, providing better access to clean water. They enhance soil quality, accelerating tree growth and improving yields for a more reliable, high-quality local food supply. Trees also purify the air, reducing pollution and improving the quality of the air we breathe. Together, these benefits contribute to the physical and mental well-being of surrounding communities and raise their quality of life. Additionally, parts of certain trees offer natural, plant based medicines that support community health.

Support Local Communities
Trees support local communities’ livelihoods and boost the local economy. They offer economic opportunities by providing valuable products such as fruits, bark, leaves, nuts, and sap, which can generate income sustainably. For instance, farmers in our working areas benefit from coffee trees for their beans, clove trees for aromatic spices, mango and other fruit. Additionally, some villages leverage trees for tourism, using areas with dense tree cover to create attractions like campgrounds, parks, outdoor activities, and hiking trails, providing alternative sources of local income.

facts About Trees and Forest
exist in our planet
Global research involving over 100 scientists predicts approximately 73,000 tree species exist on our planet, but only 64,000 have been documented.
of carbon dioxide
Trees are a vital component of our world for many reasons. They cool the air, stabilise soils and provide food and habitats for wildlife. They also make a huge contribution in cleaning our air by sucking up and storing carbon.
