2. Continued Activity of Research on Supply and Demand of National Timber in East Java.

The activity which is performed from 20 to 23 December 2011 focuses on sample taken from:

Sawmil enterprise and wood merchants in 3 regencies: Lumajang, Jember and Banyuwangi
Official agency dealing with housing development in Banyuwangi and Jember
The interview results the development of housing and data on timber production capacity for Sengon, Mahogany, Mindi, Teak etc. Other discoveries during the research in 3 different provinces:

First, the importance of mobile sawmil to fulfil the requirement of timber for housing. It occurs in East Java and some part of Central Java. While in West Java, permanent sawmil plays the most important role to fulfil the requirement of timber for the purpose of housing;

Next, the number of timber merchant and sawmil, permanent and mobile, Central Java is in the first place, second is West Java and third is East Java;

And most of timber production for industry from the 3 provinces enter Central Java, especially Semarang, Magelang, Temanggung and Batang. While timber for housing is supplied from each province. Recently, timber for housing is quite rare. Housing developer usually make use of Teak, Mahogany, Jackfruit timber etc with diameter up to 30 cm. But those kind of timbers with specified diameter is difficult to obtain. To overcome this problem, the developer uses light steel for frame of roof.
